The RECOs are the main antagonists of The Wild Robot book series and DreamWorks' 47th animated feature film of the same name.
They are reconnaissance robots sent out to perform various tasks involving their company.
Background
Appearance
The RECOs appear as strong, silver, eight-"eyed" (one of which is red and the other seven are cyan) humanoid robots, and each have a pair of antennae upon their heads. They also wield claws on both arms. They also have a spike sticking out from their backs.
Film
When Brightbill, Longneck and the other geese fly into universal dynamics during their migration, a unit appears and tries to shoot them after they are spotted. The RECO shoots a hole into the dome of the structure which allowed the geese to escape, Longneck distracts the robot while the other geese escape but is unfortunately killed by the RECO.
Later when Vontra arrives on the island to capture Roz, she sends out several units to capture her. The units try to explain to Roz that she didn't belong there but to no avail, a fight ensued between the RECOs, Roz and the animals and all the units are defeated and destroyed during the fight. Shortly after Vontra turns on a self destruct system causing all the fallen units to explode, causing a fire and allowing Vontra to capture Roz onto the airship.
Later Roz and Brightbill manages to defeat Vontra but she tells them that they would keep coming until they had her. After Vontra and the airship is destroyed, Roz is retrieved by another airship a few days later and returns to universal dynamics, but is able to keep her memories.
