Zuba is the deuteragonist of DreamWorks Animation's 2008 feature film Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. He is the alpha lion of the Pride of Africa and the father of Alex, who was then known as "Alakay" and the mate of Florrie.

Physical appearances

As a younger adult, Zuba has dark gold fur, green eyes and a black man and a hole in his left ear, which he got when trying to save Alex from the poachers.

As an older adult, Zuba remains the same except that his mane now has several grey streaks.

Zuba bears a resemblance to adult Alex, with the exception of his fur, eye and mane colour and size, and being slightly muscular. They also share the same birthmark on their paw.

Trivia

• Zuba was once rumored to return in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted along with Florrie, but they never did. Plus, when that rumor spread, since Bernie Mac died, it was said that André 3000 would take over.
• Zuba was inspired by Mufasa from The Lion King.
