- “What is it with you princesses and getting captured?”
- ―Wart
Wart is a character that appears in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. After a long absence, he appears alongside various bosses and enemies from Super Mario Bros. 2 in the film as a minor but prominent supporting antagonist. He was formally revealed in the movie's final trailer as owner of the casino location, though he was previously revealed in the movie's final poster where he is depicted alongside Birdo and Mouser. He is also show to breathe out bubbles when he talks, referencing his bubble attack from the original game. He is voiced by Luis Guzmán, and speaks with a distinctive Nuyorican accent, due to Guzmán being born in Puerto Rico and having lied in New York City for most of his life.
In the film, Wart acts as the kingpin of the casino inside the Gateway Underground, the underworld beneath the Gateway Galaxy. Upon arriving at the casino, Peach asks him about the whereabouts of Rosalina, but after denying that he knows anything, Wart sends three of his sentinels to fight her: Birdo, Mouser, and Clawgrip. Once she defeats those three, he presses a red button and deploys an army of Ninjis to fight her. Upon their defeat at the hands of Peach and Toad, Wart gets angry and fires a barrage of bubbles from his mouth, only for Peach to knock a turnip into his mouth and knock him to the ground. After she threatens him while in Super form, Wart tells her that Bowser Jr. is keeping Rosalina in the Space Junk Galaxy. As Peach and Toad leave the casino, Wart grabs Birdo and demands that she get him Bowser Jr. Later, Wart's enraged face appears on a screen in Bowser Jr.'s Spaceship, but he is not seen for the remainder of this movie.
Wart's role as a casino owner was previously featured in Super Mario-kun and the Super Mario Kodansha manga, which portray him as having a passion for casinos and slot machines. In the Super Mario PSA volume of the latter, he runs the Casino USA, which also features a giant roulette.
