Pinocchio is a supporting character in DreamWorks Animation's Shrek franchise. Background
Description
In the Shrek franchise, Pinocchio is a high-pitched, wooden puppet created by Geppetto who longs to become a real boy. Known for his literal nose-growth when lying, he transforms from a minor outcast into a fiercely loyal member of Shrek and Donkey’s inner circle.
Personality
Pinocchio is mostly well behaved, although can get extremely caught up in the moment. Sometimes giving snarky remarks or going on tangents. His excitement primarily stemmed from his dreams to become a real boy, which seemed to drive his entire personality. Overtime he got over this, becoming content with being a puppet. Although sometimes he would remain insecure over the idea of him not being "real."
Physical appearances
Pinocchio wears his fancy outfit. He wears a yellow hat. He also wears white gloves, white short sleeve shirt with yellow buttons, blue shorts with suspenders, white socks, and red Mary Jane shoes. In Shrek 2, a real boy wears a yellow hat, white long sleeve shirt with yellow buttons, blue short dress, white tights, and red Mary Jane shoes. He has Short Brown Hair
Powers and abilities
- Invulnerability: As a living puppet, Pinocchio is invulnerable to bodily harm to an extent and feels no pain. Early in the film, he lit his finger on fire without flinching, then later fell down some steps and got up unharmed.
- Limited shapeshifting: Whenever Pinocchio tells a lie, as a puppet his nose grows longer than usual. Only when Pinocchio tells the truth will his nose return to its normal size.
- Aquatic adaptation: As a puppet, Pinocchio does not require air and can survive and speak underwater. Being made of wood, however, he must use a stone to weigh his body down.
- Strategist: Over the course of the film, Pinocchio develops a degree of strategy and cunning, tying a stone to his tail (which he gets from Pleasure Island) to travel underwater, then starting a fire inside Monstro's belly in order to escape from the whale. He was also the only boy at Pleasure Island who was smart enough to flee before his transformation could be completed, as Jiminy implied this could work, as Pinocchio realizes he's thinking what he's thinking.
