Mei lived in Shanghai with her mother, husband, and daughter Yi in an apartment in Shanghai, China. The family seemed to have a happy life until the death of Yi's father. His wife, mother-in-law, and daughter grieved for him, especially for Yi who took his death so hard that she spent her time distracting herself with various jobs and distancing herself from her mother and grandmother.
Personality
Mei is warm, nurturing, and caring individual. She genuinely loves her daughter and is very patient with her as she knows that Yi is grieving over her father's death. Even though she did not like her daughter neglecting her, Mei was not upset with her as she understood that Yi was still grieving and tried to help with her daughter's healing process.
