Long Distance, also known as Distant, is an 2024 American science fiction adventure film directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, with a screenplay by Spenser Cohen. Produced by DreamWorks Pictures, Reliance Entertainment and Automatik. The film stars Anthony Ramos, Naomi Scott, Kristofer Hivju, and Zachary Quinto. Filming took place between September and November 2020.

Plot

Asteroid miner Andy crash-lands on a hostile alien planet after a mining rig malfunction. Stranded with dwindling oxygen supplies and pursued by grotesque, predatory creatures, he must traverse treacherous terrain—craggy canyons, toxic storms, and derelict wreckage—to reach the only other survivor: Lena, a fellow crew member trapped in her damaged escape pod. Communicating via crackling radio transmissions, the two form a desperate bond while racing against time, environmental hazards, and the planet's nightmarish wildlife. As Andy uncovers clues about the crash's true cause, the line between survival and sacrifice blurs in a pulse-pounding fight for rescue.

The film was scheduled for theatrical release by Universal Pictures on March 11, 2022. In November 2021, it got delayed to September 16, 2022, later January 27, 2023 in June 2022. At one point, Amblin's website listed it for January 19, 2024, but in November 2023, it removed it from its schedule. The film, with the final title Long Distance, first premiered in Vietnam on July 12, 2024. and made it's USA release on streaming service Hulu on July 3, 2025.
